Lapidus Procedure for Bunion Correction
The Lapidus procedure is a type of bunion correction. In all bunion corrections, the first metatarsal has to be brought back into alignment with the rest of the foot so that the great toe to can be straightened. The Lapidus bunionectomy accomplishes this by fusing the joint at the base of the first metatarsal in a better position. This procedure is commonly done for more severe deformities or an unstable joint.
