The Pain Management Center at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic is designed to provide our pain patients with comprehensive education and exceptional care through the knowledge, experience, and expertise of our fellowship-trained pain management specialist.

Welcome to our Pain Management Center

Working extensively with patients suffering from acute and chronic pain, our pain management specialist, Dr. Frederick Dery, M.D., is board-certified and specialty-trained to help patients manage their pain.

Fluoroscopy Suite at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic

Dr. Dery integrates proven pain management techniques through our fully equipped Fluoroscopy Suite.

Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that allows Dr. Dery to view live motion, real time X-rays of the musculoskeletal system, enabling him to perform various procedures on-site at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic.  The use of fluoroscopy ensures accurate needle positioning so that medications are injected directly into the appropriate location.  This leads to better results, fewer complications, and increased patient comfort.

Spinal Cord Stimulation

As an intervention for chronic pain in the trunk and limbs, spinal cord stimulation has proven to be an effective treatment to manage chronic pain.

Spinal cord stimulation is an implantable system that delivers electrical pulses through a lead to nerves in the spinal cord. This system inhibits pain signals before they reach the brain and are replaced with a tingling sensation (parasthesia) that covers the specific areas where the patient has chronic pain.

Chronic pain can stimulate many physiological and emotional reactions that can have detrimental effects on the patient and his or her family if it is not treated and managed. Chronic pain that is not managed has been known to:

  • Cause anxiety and depression
  • Increase stress
  • Lead to economic hardship

Research and studies show that spinal cord stimulation may offer the following benefits to patients suffering from chronic pain:

  • Patients will experience an effective, significant, and sustained reduction in chronic pain, resulting in an improved quality of life.
  • Patients may be able to reduce oral pain medication doses and their associated side effects.
  • Spinal cord stimulation is reversible and can be turned off or surgically removed if needed.
  • The neurostimulators can be programmed to meet the specific needs of each individual patient.
  • As pain patterns change, parameters can be adjusted to increase the effectiveness of the therapy.
