Steindler Physical Therapy in Iowa City

At Steindler Orthopedic Clinic, our specialty-trained physical therapists are experts in providing hands-on orthopedic physical therapy to patients with orthopedic injuries and conditions.

Physical therapy, also called PT, is a broad field made up of multiple subspecialties. These specialties range from pediatric physical therapy and geriatric physical therapy to vestibular rehabilitation and orthopedic physical therapy.

PT is often used as a nonsurgical treatment option to treat diseases, injuries, and deformities. These conditions often limit a person’s mobility or keep them from living an active lifestyle. It can also be used as preventive care to help build strength, prevent future injuries, and improve one’s overall health and well-being. PT is even used to help with recovery when surgical treatment options are needed.

Doctors will often recommend physical therapy to patients who have undergone surgery, need rehabilitation after an injury, need help alleviating pain, or would benefit from therapy.

What is orthopedic physical therapy?

Orthopedic physical therapy is a type of physical therapy that focuses on the treatment of injuries and conditions in the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

The goal of orthopedic physical therapy is to help patients move and feel better as well as make sure their injuries heal correctly so that they can return to doing what they love.
