Cheilectomy - Stiff Big Toe Surgery

-A +A

Cheilectomy is a surgical procedure used to help relieve symptoms of hallux rigidus (stiff big toe).   As the big toe joint loses cartilage and becomes arthritic, it stiffens and builds up bone spurs over the top of the joint. Removing these spurs improves joint movement and relieves pressure from overlying shoes.  It is most successful in patients with less severe arthritis.
